Lyle Grant Murray of Clifford passed away at Royal Terrace, Palmerston on Friday, July 22, 2022, in his 91st year. Lyle loved his family. He was a loving husband to Alieda (Hossfeld) Murray for 66 years. Their ‘love-at-first-sight’ romance began when Alieda Hossfeld started teaching at S.S. #6 Howick in 1954. Proud father to Judith Anne and Hugh Douglas of Howick Township, and Neil and Angie Murray of Waterloo. Wonderful grandfather (and great-grandfather) to John Douglas, Paul and Alanna Douglas (Layla and Preston), Emily and Georg Bijman (Annie, Adeline, Eden, and Ellie), Branden Murray, and Grace Murray. Lyle was a dedicated caretaker of the land. He farmed with his father, and continued farming Lot 23, Concession 13, Howick Township, with his wife. He loved milking his shorthorns and cropping with his International equipment. He was a caring and supportive member of Clifford Masonic Lodge, the Howick Athletic Association, Clifford Rotary, Meals on Wheels, Knox United Church, Clifford and its Adult Fellowship Group, as well as a loyal supporter of his wife’s interests. Visitation was held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00pm, and again on Wednesday at Knox United Church, Clifford, from 1:00 to 2:00pm. The funeral service was held at Knox United Church, Clifford on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 2:00pm. Rev. Jenn Brown officiating. The service was live-streamed and the link available on the funeral home website. Interment in Clifford Cemetery.
