MCEACHERN, Muriel

1924-2019 Muriel Louise McEachern, 95, of Fergus ON passed away at home on June 3, 2019. Born and raised in Fort William ON, she was the daughter of Thomas and Daisy (Browden) Martin, sister of Colleen Taylor and granddaughter of her personal hero Thomas Browden. In 1944 she married Lynden Neil McEachern while he was home on leave from convoy duty in the North Atlantic and they enjoyed 39 years together venturing from Fort William to Sault Ste. Marie to Sudbury to Sept Iles QC and then Fergus until Lynden’s death in 1983. Muriel was a fixture of her family, and lived her long life with joy, grace and adventure. She loved to travel, bake (just try to rival her lemon meringue pie!), follow politics and current events, appreciate the antics of birds, wildlife and pets and most of all to be surrounded by friends and family. Muriel is survived by her children Thomas and wife Susan (Belanger) McEachern of Quispamsis NB and Bonnie McEachern of Fergus ON, grandchildren Kevin McEachern and Meagan McEachern Poirier, and her adored great grandchildren Drew, Kate, and Reid all of Quispamsis NB, as well as those she included and loved as family: Catt, Dustin and Julien, Mike and Javan, Andrea, her extended McEachern family, her Aboyne neighbours, “the girls” – you know who you are, and her four European “daughters” Tini Koepf, Alice Meyenkoth, Malin Ahlbeck and Anna Ostman. Muriel’s positivity, tenacity (she called it stubbornness), strength and kindness will remain an inspiration to all those who met her, and are a reminder to look for the good, to be willing to learn, to laugh more and to find joy in the people you love. She always gave you the benefit of the doubt, made friends wherever she went, and exhibited unwavering, unconditional love. Her life was long and full of love, and her light and wisdom will be missed and never forgotten. Arrangements are entrusted to The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South, Fergus.
