McCARVELL, Nancy McKillop

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Nancy McCarvell McKillop on June 12, 2025; a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, who brought joy and warmth to all who knew her. Nancy was the cherished wife of Michael McKillop, devoted mother to Heather Duke and Drew McCarvell, caring stepmother to Amanda and Adam McKillop, and loving sister to Sandra Close (Randy). She will be missed by numerous family and friends, and by her loyal dog, Max. Nancy was predeceased by her son-in-law John Duke and her parents, Wray and Joyce Gardiner. She spent many fulfilling years working at the University of Guelph, where her kindness, dedication, and good humor left a lasting impression. A passionate gardener and endlessly creative soul, Nancy found joy in bringing beauty into the world—whether through her flourishing gardens, artistic projects, or the way she nurtured those around her. She also had a deep love of travel and adventure, creating cherished memories on trips with family and friends—always curious, always open to new experiences, and happiest when sharing them with the people she loved. Nancy was an incredible mother and an extraordinary human being whose legacy of love and generosity will live on in all who knew her. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the entire team at Wellington Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Nancy in her final days. The PSWs, nurses, doctor, and volunteers cared for her with incredible tenderness, dignity, and respect. Their kindness extended not only to Nancy, but also to the entire family, offering comfort, guidance, and genuine compassion during a profoundly difficult time. The warmth and grace with which they supported all of us will never be forgotten. A funeral service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held on Thursday, June 19 at 1:00pm at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son – Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin Street North, Guelph. Reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and share in remembering her remarkable life. To honour Nancy’s memory and the incredible care she received, donations to Wellington Hospice would be deeply appreciated by the family.
