MARSHALL, Frederick (Fred) Emory

May 10, 1936 - May 7, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frederick Emory Marshall following his courageous battle with cancer. As were his wishes, he passed away peacefully at home on May 7, 2021. A loving husband to Frances (Ivy) Rose (Lawrence) of 64 years. A loving father to Randy, Beverly Bessey (Kevin) and Donna Garvin (Wayne). A loving Grandfather to Shelley Hostrawser (Brad), Cheryl Baker (Andrew), Krista Bessey, David Garvin (Mandy), Adam Garvin and Matthew Garvin. A special Great Grandfather to Ashton and Levi, Lily and Carter, Ava, Peyton and Jesse, and Noah and Aidan. Predeceased by his parents Alvin and Matilda Marshall and brother Clifford. Dear brother to Ted Marshall, Beth Smeltzer, Shirley Green, Ferne Boniface (Al), Joyce Fagan, and brother-in-law to Doreen Marshall and Helen Dentinger (Ben). He will be remembered by many nieces and nephews from both the Marshall and Lawrence families. Fred was a friend to many, a generous neighbour, a man who loved the land and the challenges that came with it. The family farm on the second line of West Garafraxa was his pride and joy for 55 years. He spent most of his years working the land and making the world a better place. Fred was a collector. His love of the Farmall tractor was just one of his many passions. Fred was a member of the Arthur Optimist and loved the camaraderie and fellowship that this brought to his life. He was a man of many talents – a builder, a mechanic, a truck driver, just to name a few. He was always there to help a friend, and would never turn down a challenge. Times spent together with family and friends were always important to him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Groves Memorial Community Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Interment and a private family service held at the Belsyde Cemetery in Fergus.
