CUMMINGS, James (Jim) Edward

January 25, 1952 - November 20, 2022

Sadly, my Jimmy passed away peacefully and comfortably today surrounded by family and the gentle care and critical eyes of his Nightingales, Tanis, Kelly, and Kailin. I find solace knowing he is now in the warm embrace of our Lord, and in the loving arms of his parents Patricia and Roscoe Cummings of Belleville.  Thank You for providing a quick, stress-free and dignified transition. His beloved children Jay and Iris, Kelsy and David McKenzie, Tanis and Aaron Casey are grieving their positive example of humanity, generosity and kindness. As part of his legacy, his precious grandchildren Lorelei, Ronin, Hollis, James Chan, and Emersyn will forever know stories of their Papa’s love, laughter and escapades. Thankfully he was able to share his robust personality across the continents to the very end through technology. He will be truly missed by his siblings Carol Wight, Lynn Coghlan, Frank Cummings, Kelly Legere, Kim Papish, Julie LeDevehat, Sheila McHugh and Ronnie Sutherland (predeceased).  Remembered as a lifelong, supportive, father figure to many. Will be remembered with fondness by his many nieces and nephews from across Canada, especially Kailin (Tom) who he recognized and told Friday, “You make me happy”.  Jim will be missed by his cousins and many friends in Mississauga, California, Belleville, Peterborough, Burlington, especially Linda, Mary Kay, Eric and Wayne, and we are grateful to Tony Styger and family for their loving, unwavering support. I find comfort in believing he was greeted and is enjoying a cold one with Ron, Bob, John & Evelyn, and all of his other loved ones above the clouds. Thanks to the Wellington Paramedics and the staff at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, specifically Heather and Libin for your overly compassionate care and professionalism. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Lewy Body Association- www.lbda.org and Canadian Lung Association- www.lung.ca in Jim’s memory are welcome. A Celebration of Life will take place December 23, 2022 at the Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. S., Fergus 6:00-8:00pm when Jay and Kelsy return to Canada. Like Jim take a moment every day to say “I love you”. As per our vows, I will love you to the end of time, and will be eternally grateful that through your selflessness, you always made me feel I was your priority…. Diane Sutherland Cummings.
