BLACKBURN, Murray

Murray Albert Blackburn of Mount Forest passed away at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Harriston on Friday, June 20, 2025, in his 94th year. Husband of the late Jessie (Graham) Blackburn. Father of Trent and Lisa Blackburn of Oakville, and father-in-law of Brenda Blackburn of Wasaga Beach. Grandfather of Jason, Tara, Kayla, Rebecca (Travis), Ryan, and Lexi. Great Grandfather of Chloe and McKenna. Brother of Helen and Jim Hughes of Collingwood, and brother-in-law of Sue Blackburn of Collingwood, Helen Blackburn of Creemore, and Doug Fortune of Collingwood. Predeceased by his son Mark Blackburn (1999), his brothers, Gordon Blackburn and Doug Blackburn, and by sisters, Muriel Fortune, and Thelma Meesters and husband John, and by Murray’s parents, Stanley and Elvira Blackburn. Murray was a very caring, considerate, thoughtful and easy-going person. His love for his wife Jessie and his family was constant and he was very generous with his time. He worked as Building Inspector for the Town of Collingwood for over 30 years. His interests included camping, cottage life, sports (especially hockey and golf) and woodworking. He skillfully carved wood throughout his retirement, finishing countless birds and wildlife. He donated many carvings over the years to several causes. He loved dogs and cats.  His last dog passed away only a few weeks before he did. We would like to thank all the staffs at Caressant Care Nursing Home in Harriston, Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest, Palmerston Hospital and the St. Elizabeth Nursing Clinic in Palmerston for their fantastic care and support. The funeral service will be held at Knox-Calvin Presbyterian Church, Harriston on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 1:30pm with visitation from 12:00 Noon until time of service. Interment in Stayner Cemetery. Memorial donations to Knox-Calvin Presbyterian Church, Louise Marshall Hospital or Cancer Patient Services would be appreciated, and may be made through the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston.
