New website, alert system coming to Erin

Rudy Diemer from RKD Web Studios explained the town’s new information alert system, ERINinfo, as well as a proposed new website.

Diemer said ERINinfo, one of the first of its kind, allows residents who subscribe to be notified of applicable town information via an email or text message. Right now there are 150 people registered and the program has only been live for two months.

ERINinfo could potentially alert subscribers to anything town related from an emergency situation and information to road conditions and closures, he said. Residents can register for ERINinfo through the town’s website or by texting “Erin info” to 7600. The alert system will be monitored and administered by town staff.

New Erin website

Diemer said the new town website should be up and running by the end of February. The new site is designed to work on a desktop computer, tablet or smartphone, so visitors will be able to access information from any device.

Tennis vlub committee

Council unanimously appointed councillor Rob Smith to the tennis club committee at the Jan. 20 meeting.

Notice of motion

At the end of the Jan. 20 meeting councillor Matt Sammut brought two notices of motion to council to be debated at the next council meeting.

The first was to create a committee with councillors to discuss “key strategic initiatives” in the community. The second was to evaluate which committees councillors need to be on and which can be community run.
