WELLINGTON NORTH – A new parking arrangement in downtown Arthur aims to keep parking access open for a county-owned building on Charles Street that houses a clinic and library branch.
Arthur Pentecostal Assembly, located across the road, has agreed to provide parking to staff of the growing Arthur Family Health Centre.
Wellington North council agreed to allow the township to sign an agreement with the church and county, requiring the township to add gravel and grade the lot at an estimated cost of $2,500.
The county owns the building with a county library branch and the township, a tenant, then subleases its space to the medical clinic.
Concerned about an increase in staff and the number of parking spaces needed, clinic officials reached out to the township for a solution.
The arrangement will free up limited parking spots for library visitors and those visiting the clinic, especially those with mobility challenges.
The matter was previously discussed during a closed meeting in May and approved by council on Nov. 7.
