Nestle Waters Canada receives safest employer award

Canadian Occupational Safety recently announced that Nestlé Waters Canada has been given gold recognition in the manufacturing category of the Canada’s Safest Employers Award program.

The award recognizes employers for their achievements in workplace health and safety. To qualify, Nestlé couldn’t have any serious injuries, fatalities or charges in the last five years, under the Occupational Health and Safety Act or the Criminal Code.

Nestlé was recognized for building a strong culture of safety around its commitment to OHSAS 18001, an international occupational health and safety management system registration that requires the company to establish and maintain standards that control health and safety risks. This includes creating safety behaviours and expecting compliance by employees, empowering all levels of the organization to speak up about safety matters, and integrating safety into all operating plans.

“The Nestlé Waters Canada health and safety story is one of leadership, innovation and single-minded focus,” said Amanda Silliker, editor, Canadian Occupational Safety.

“The company’s gold recognition in the manufacturing category was well-earned, particularly because of the innovative communications programs, level of advocacy associated with the safety teams and the ongoing and significant investment in employee training.”
