Musashi Auto Parts opens Arthur Community Garden

Arthur garden – Musashi Auto Parts Canada celebrated the grand opening of the Arthur Community Garden on Sept. 5. The garden is located on company property facing Preston Street. In addition to Musashi staff, Wellington North Mayor Andy Lennox (third from left) stands beside Musashi president and CEO America Operations Haru Otsuka who thanked all of those involved in the project. Lennox offered congratulations to Musashi. He added “We are delighted, as the township, to partner in the development of this community garden and I hope lots of people have the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of this.” Otsuka said the project got off to a late start, but he is looking forward to see the project expand in the new year. Otsuka said “we wanted to do something for the community and came up with a few ideas.” He noted a future idea might include the development of walking paths on the property which are currently not being used. He said right now the garden is mainly being looked after by human resources and facility employees and there are staff who live in town who come in to help water the plants. Some of the produce grown will be served in the Musashi cafeteria. He hoped that next year others in the community will choose to rent out planters/baskets.
