Mount Forest Santa Claus Parade to be drive-through event

MOUNT FOREST – The Mount Forest Lions Club Santa Claus parade will have a drive-through format again this year.

After trying out the unconventional format last year, with floats lined up around the former fairgrounds for the first time in the parade’s 83-year history, floats are relocating to the parking lot of Mount Forest Victory Church for a 7pm start on Dec. 3.

Lions Club parade chair Emma Jeffries is expecting between 12 and 20 floats this year now that businesses and organizations are able to get together and work on their festive displays under the theme of “Santa’s workshop.”

Wightman Telecom, Pike Lake Golf Centre, McFarlane Family Dental, to name a few, will have floats to see and with no entry fee, Jeffries says they’re still looking for more to join the show.

Despite last year’s festivities being dampened by the pandemic, upwards of 400 vehicles still made an appearance, according to Jeffries, who is hoping for a similar turnout, if not better, this time around.

Jeffries passed along her appreciation for community support over the years.

Strong support

“The community does a really great job showing up for any Mount Forest Lions Club initiatives,” she said, inviting readers to come out and enjoy a kick-start to the Christmas season.
