Mary Lynne Forrest Memorial Golf Tournament donates $25,000 to hospital

MOUNT FOREST – When the Mary Lynne Forrest Memorial Golf Tournament (MLFMGT) was founded 16 years ago, George Forrest said it was to serve two purposes: to keep the memory of Mary Lynne alive and to raise “a bit of money” for local hospitals.

Though the tournament itself was cancelled this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the MLFMGT committee decided to continue its fundraising efforts in support of local health care.

This year, it was able to raise an incredible $25,000 for the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation (LMHF).

The money will go towards the purchase of a transport ventilator.

“The [LMHF] is so appreciative of the ongoing support of the MLFMGT committee,” said LMHF development officer Amy Van Huss.

“Despite the challenges we are all currently facing, the kindness and generosity of our community is second to none.

“We would like to extend a sincere thank you to George Forrest, his family and the volunteers.”

The 2020 donation brings the 16-year total of funds raised by the tournament to more than $818,000 in support of the Louise Marshall and Palmerston and District Hospital Foundations.
