Man charged with impaired months after SUV hits house

GUELPH-ERAMOSA – A Fergus man has been charged with impaired driving four months after a vehicle slammed into a house here.

On Sept. 21 at about 5am Wellington County OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 26 in Guelph-Eramosa. Police say a black SUV left the road and struck a house. The driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Investigators had suspicions that the driver was impaired and sought analysis of their blood,” police stated in a press release.

On Jan. 30, the OPP announced that Paul Bhupendra Heeralall, 32, of Fergus, was charged with driving while impaired by both alcohol and drugs. He is to appear in Guelph court on Feb. 18.
