Lots of scoring as students beat OPP officers in charity game

RIGHT: It’s a date – Before the OPP versus Erin District High School (EDHS) charity hockey game at Centre 2000 on March 8, Dylan Early made an on-ice request to teammate Jess Hyder for a date to the prom, complete with flowers and a fancy sign. She said yes, and their team went on to beat the OPP team 7-2. The EDHS senior girls and boys challenged the Wellington County OPP to the annual game. Last year’s game ended in a 7-7 tie and EDHS was looking to take back bragging rights. LEFT: The action was fast and furious around the OPP goal for much of the game, though the police did manage to muster a bit of offense. The game was in support of East Wellington Community Services.  Photos by Phil Gravelle
