CENTRE WELLINGTON – Four local horse enthusiasts are heading to Denmark as part of a team representing Canada in an international competition aimed at helping young people learn about sport horse breeding.

FERGUS – A band that pays tribute to the golden age of MTV took to the stage at the Fergus Grand Theatre on May 18, playing an array of tunes from the big stars of the 1980s

WATERLOO – After surviving state rounds in December, Centre Wellington District High School (CWDHS) competed in the finals at the University of Waterloo on May 8 against 13 teams from across Canada. 

FERGUS – Not everyone has a green thumb or has had opportunities to gain experience in gardening. 

FERGUS – With scripts in hand, and plenty of adlibbing, a troupe of drag performers from Delta Nu House entertained an audience at the Fergus Grand Theatre on May 17 with their murder mystery “Murder at the Sorority House.”

FERGUS – The last performance of Elora Community Theatre’s production of Jane Austin’s classic tale, Pride and Prejudice, took place on May 12 at the Fergus Grand Theatre. It’s a shame. A production of its quality could withstand a much longer run.

BELWOOD – On May 7, the Belwood Lions Club presented a cheque of $1,000 to Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis.

PONSONBY – When Ponsonby Minor Softball formed its first teams in the 1960s, they didn’t have a ballpark of their own, but this year the club will celebrate five decades of playing ball on its own “Field of Dreams,” a place still looked after by community volunteers the way it was 50 years ago.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – County councillors discussed transportation needs and identified the priorities to help guide the future of Ride Well, the county's ride-sharing transportation service, at a May 16 workshop held at the county's Fergus library branch.
