Local school boards report 16 confirmed COVID-19 cases

WELLINGTON COUNTY – A total of 16 confirmed cases of COVID-19 are being reported across the Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) and Wellington Catholic District School Board (WCDSB).

As of Sept. 14, the UGDSB is reporting 14 active cases in 11 schools in Guelph and Wellington County schools:

  • three at Elora Public School (two classrooms closed);
  • one at Brant Avenue Public School in Guelph (all classrooms remain open), down from three on Sept. 10 ;
  • one at Waverly Drive Public School in Guelph (one classroom closed), down from three on Sept. 10 ;
  • one at John Galt Public School in Guelph (all classrooms remain open);
  • one at Edwards Johnson Public School in Guelph (one classroom closed);
  • one at Primrose Elementary School (one classroom closed); and
  • one at Ken Danby Public School in Guelph (one classroom closed);
  • one at Guelph CVI (one cohort closed);
  • one at College Heights Secondary School in Guelph (one cohort closed);
  • two at June Avenue Public School in Guelph (two classrooms closed); and
  • one at Jean Little Public School in Guelph (one classroom closed).

WCDSB is reporting two confirmed COVID-19 cases in two Guelph schools.

One COVID-19 case is being reported at Bishop Macdonell Catholic High School in Guelph (down from two cases originally reported on Sept. 10) with one case reported at St. James Catholic High School. The schools and all cohorts remain open.

School boards note a positive case at a school does not mean the individual was exposed to COVID-19 at the school. They may have been exposed or acquired it elsewhere in the community.
