Local man uses case of beer in place of child booster seat

NORTH PERTH – A Wellington North man has been charged after he was found using a case of beer as a substitute for a child’s booster seat.

On July 9 at about 2:30am Perth County OPP stopped a sedan on Perth Road 30 in Atwood.

Police say the driver was using a 30-can case of beer as a booster seat for a two-year-old child.

The 22-year-old driver from Wellington North was charged with failing to properly secure a toddler.

“A proper child seat was brought to the location and Family and Children’s Services has been notified,” police stated in a press release.

Police are reminding drivers that children in a passenger vehicle that are not at least 8 years old or 80 pounds or 4’9” must be secured in some form of booster seat or child seat.
