‘Stonewalling’

Dear Editor:

RE: Town destroyed majority of records sought in FOI request for severance costs, May 9.

I’m a relative newcomer to the area, but one thing I have come to realize is how dishonest the Town of Erin is. From secret meetings, to surprise water projects and now stonewalling inquiries into hush-hush severance payments.

We’re supposed to believe they follow a strict three year record retention? Ask anyone on the street how long you have to keep your records in case of government audit. Answer: Seven years!

Perhaps a call to the CRA snitch line can help clear this up! Maybe an investigation of their payroll records are in order. I just went through one at my work for 2015.

Maybe next time I just tell them my new policy is to only keep records for one year and they should move on to someone else!
