Rural Romp fun

Dear Editor:

We are recovering today from an exciting tour on the Rural Romp yesterday (Sept. 28).

There were so many places open to the public and at each place the hospitality was top notch. We managed to visit five of the properties and saw 17 different animals. Highlights were holding a four-day-old goat kid, kissing a piglet (a dream of our four-year-old granddaughter since she could talk), pumpkins, donkeys, Longhorn cattle, etc.

It was a wonderful experience for “townies.” Despite the rain at the beginning of the day, I hope it was worthwhile for those who opened their properties for us. Unfortunately bees do not fly in the rain, so we just saw the hives, but were invited back on a sunny day to see them active.

Thanks to all of you who allowed us to visit. We will definitely be back next year.

Lesley Mallett,
Fergus
