Parade supporters

Dear Editor:

The Optimist Club of Puslinch’s annual Santa Claus parade through the streets of Aberfoyle on Nov. 24 enjoyed a perfect day with lots of floats, bands, clowns, mascots and elves and lots of smiling faces.

Santa Claus was his jolly good self and greeted each of the boys and girls with a big smile, picture and goody bag. Santa answered all of the letters left in Santa’s mailbox. Hot dogs, hot chocolate and Christmas music were enjoyed by friends and neighbours.

Two hundred and seventy five kilograms of food was collected for the food bank. The Christmas Adopt-A-Family program organized by the Children’s Foundation of Guelph Wellington was thrilled with the gifts delivered to them from excess funds, along with leftover goody bags.  Great job Puslinch, helping families in need!

A lot of hard work goes into making sure the parade is successful and safe. This event is made possible through the generous support of our local businesses, companies, organizations, individuals and community members.

A huge thank you to all who participated in the parade with their amazing Christmas and “Toys in the Attic” floats and bands and to all the many spectators who lined the streets! The parade just keeps getting better and better!

We are already making plans for next year’s parade and have asked Santa to join us again.  The date will be Nov. 22, 2020. The Optimist Club welcomes new members and the new ideas they bring with them.

A special thank you goes out to the following, who help make our parade the most watched community event in downtown Aberfoyle (please thank and support them): Aberfoyle Snowmobiles Ltd, Accurate Home & Building Inspection Consultants, Benson Tire, Brennan’s Tire Service Inc., Bryan’s  Farm & Industrial Supply, Capital Paving Inc., Cascade Canada Ltd., Con-Cast Pipe Ltd., County of Wellington roads dept., Aberfoyle CRH Canada Group, Experior Financial Group Inc., Farley Manufacturing Inc., Flochem Ltd., Guelph Building Supply, Hammond Manufacturing Co.
