No stigma

No stigma

Dear Editor:

RE: What’s in a name, Nov. 28.

I am 72 years old and proud to be called a senior. I have earned my “stripes”.

I am not sure where the stigma comes from, regarding being called a senior. I am very active, attending the gym daily, including a strength training class at Victoria Park Seniors Centre,  belong to two choirs, was doing synchronized skating up until two years ago and am an avid downhill skier (hopefully for many more years to come), as well as many social activities with my “senior” friends.

I am wondering if the people who do not like the stigma of the name senior, gladly take the senior’s discount when they are able to.

Let’s enjoy what we are lucky to have in Fergus: a vibrant, activity filled seniors’ centre.

Barb Smith,
Fergus
