It’s still shoplifting

Dear Editor:

RE: Prefers warnings, Feb. 13.

As part of the Groves Hospital Volunteer Association, the New To You store strives to serve the community we live in and to wholly support our local hospital “Groves”.

The New To You store supports the community in a number of ways.

All funds minus expenses go to support Groves with the purchase of necessary equipment. This equipment helps patients in many ways.

We provide our valued customers with gently used, quality, affordable merchandise donated by members of the community. These donations are freely given in the hopes they will help bring in moneys which in turn help the hospital. Our wonderful volunteers spend hundreds of hours sorting, packaging, pricing and offering these items for sale in the store.

We also benefit the community by giving the merchandise a second life through the recycling of goods.

In my opinion, stealing is not okay and undermines the hard work of our volunteers and the generosity of our donors.

Condoning shoplifting does not benefit anyone.
