Event benefits groups

Dear Editor:

There are a lot of great organizations who work hard to make our communities better places to live and work.

Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) has been fortunate enough to be included with three other groups that contribute in unique ways to our neighborhoods.

Thanks to the Sept. 25 event known as The River Classic Golf Tournament at Pike Lake Golf Course in Minto, CSGW has been working with 88.7 fm The River, Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Wellington and Get In Touch for Hutch. These groups provide support for communication within the community, mentoring and support services for young people and mental health initiatives and supports for youth. We are delighted to be part of this group that gives so much back.

The River Classic is a unique way for multiple agencies to benefit from a golf tournament that would simply be too much work for any one of the partners to undertake on their own. It is also a great opportunity for local businesses to support more than one agency, as the proceeds of the tournament will be split between each of the groups.

The hope is to have this event be so successful that it becomes an annual event. If you are interested in being a sponsor, you still have time. Golfers are also invited to participate in what promises to be a fun and unique event at Pike Lake Golf Course.

For more information on the event and to book your team, go to Eventbrite.ca and search “The River Classic” and to be a sponsor you can contact CSGW at info@csgw.tips. You don’t have to be a pro golfer to enjoy The River Classic Golf Tournament; just look forward to having fun and enjoying a day that supports some hard-working community organizations.

Fundraising is a constant for CSGW to pay rewards to tipsters for information that leads to arrests and to operate the program. We need your support to help keep your community safe.

Remember, call 1-800-222-TIPS or go to www.csgw.tips if you have information about crime in your community! For more information on CSGW, go to www.csgw.tips. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube!
