Don’t get complacent

Dear Editor:

RE: Local water watchdog keeps the pressure on province, March 5.

Thank you to the hard working and committed core committee of Save Our Water for their continued efforts to keep awareness and the urgency of water risk in our town and our province in front of the government.

We, the people, must not become complacent about the basics of life.  Most of us are fortunate; we can turn on a tap and there is water.   Those in communities with already high risk water availability or ‘boil water’ status will tell you this is a privilege not to be taken for granted.

It is the professionalism of the Save Our Water team and Wellington Water Watchers, your research and your persistence on behalf of all of the Centre Wellington residents that has kept the focus in government on source water protection.  This is key to the future of the rights of the people above corporations and profit for basic needs.

Your diligence is much appreciated.
