The most recent Wellington Advertiser online election-poll indicates that the Liberals are ahead of the Conservatives and very far ahead of the NDP in the Wellington-Halton Hills riding. The best way to help take this seat away from the Harper Government is to vote for Dr. Don Trant. Nationally, the effect of that one seat could be to prevent another Harper majority government; it could also lead to either a Liberal win or, less likely, to an NDP win.
A recent Maclean’s article, “The Rathberger Experiment”, confirmed that Michael Chong is the most rebellious of the Harper MPs. Nevertheless, he dissented with the Harper gang only 14 times out of 935 votes, giving him a “maverick rating” of only 1.5%. If you want change, the best chance of getting it, in this riding and nationally, is to vote for Dr. Don Trant. He is very competent and, like Chong, a nice guy too. In contrast with the Harper/Chong policy of pitting Canadians against one another and giving huge tax breaks to multinational corporations, the Trudeau/Trant policy is one of cooperation, respect, science-based decision-making and investment in Canada and Canadians.
