Hi my name is Matthew McCoy and i am from mount forest ontario. I am writing you to inquire if anyone would be willing to look into a situation that i feel is incredibly wrong and unethical. Bill Corby a lawyer out of Fergus has represented a single mother of two Tara Oakes in her divorce preceedings for the past year, during which time she had asked Mr.Corby to settle but he continuously stretched it out and made bold statements to the effect that he will get her all she deserves. The fact of the matter is there was a house sale in limbo during all this and he saw in my opinion an easy target. Tara asked repeatedly for an itemized bill and to know how much per hour she was being charged. No answer. I myself sat in the office with Tara while she begged Mr. Corby to let he settle only to be told she was “stupid and making a huge mistake.” she has finally settled and Mr. Corby issued his bill over 3/4 of her settlement. Well over thirty thousand dollars. Still no itemized bill even though it was requested did i forget to mention that this case went inside a court room twice for a total of 57 minutes total. Everything else was emails between him and her ex husbands attorney. Tara is crushed by this and spoke with me about it. She thinks there is nothing she can do but i thought i would help her get a start i took two years of law in the US and to me it just does not feel ethical to act in this manner.
