I attended the July 15th Puslinch Council meeting to discuss the transfer of ownership of Townline Road from 34 to Rozell Road to the City of Cambridge. There were many delegates that spoke opposing the road transfer. The residents along the roadway came together to oppose the trasnfer as unnecessary and stated our objections. I personally believe council had made the decision to transfer the road long before the June 4th PIC, however the need to appear to listen to the concerns of its residence is in their best interests as politicians.
The concerns from all the residents about the speed of drivers coming through the hamlet and the lack of response from Puslinch Council is very discouraging.
There has been 2 major accidents along the road in the past 8 months in both cases two vehicles were completly destroyed. The fact that no one was seriously injured is a miracle, however we all agree it is not if there is going to be a fatality or serious injury just when.
There is no hidden driveway sign along here(there use to be). The school bus stops here every day yet there is no school bus stop sign. Heavy trucks appear on this road on a regular basis. There is a huge sign on highway 24 going into Guelph that states NO HEAVY TRUCK TRAFFIC ON FIFE ROAD – why can we not have signs along the road? There is a speed limit sign thats hardly visible as it is overgrown with brush.
We have asked for speed calming measures , speed humps , stop signs etc.
Considering the Township of Puslinch just sold the road to Cambridge for a $1.00 and have saved over one million dollars in future road upgrades I do not understand how they can not spend a few hundred dollars for signs to at least give the residents some comfort.
The council chambers were filled with residents that evening and the majority of the council meeting was to listen to the delegates yet this topic did not make the Wellington Advisor.
Thank you
