In praise of SJA volunteers.
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the St. John Ambulance volunteers. They are a reassuring sight at many of our concerts, festivals, charity events, holiday gatherings. They often go unnoticed but their skills and experience are there if we need them.
The Fergus Branch of the SJA has supported 8 Annual Food Cycle Rides. This year was special. SJA volunteer, Cameron Drever decided that, since he was patroling the Trailway anyway, he would register, form a team and raise pledges in support of the Ride and its beneficiary, the Centre Wellington Food Bank. He raised an astonishing $730 while volunteering for a good cause.
The Food Cycle Ride has been blessed with tremendous community support in the form of sponsorship, ridership and volunteers. But Cameron, and his colleagues in the SJA Fergus Branch made this year special.
