What will the carbon tax money be used for?
Is it designated to eliminate CO2 emissions? No, it’s clearly not intended to. The government doesn’t want us to stop burning fossil fuels, and knows we can’t because the power grid can’t handle much more. Your not going to plug a million cars in at 5:00 to charge, green energy couldn’t supply it (that was another waste of tax money).
What about for “wealth redistribution” that our PM keeps citing. How is adding a new tax, quoted as being one of the largest cascading taxes ever to be imposed on the Canadian population, going to help the poor and lower income? How many more will be forced to choose between eating and heating because of the extra tax on their gas bill, given to the wealthy as “incentive” to buy a new electric car.
This tax money will be directed by the government for their own political and personal benefit, not given back to help the average Canadian. The little money “given back to the people”, will be for the wealthy and extra privileged who can afford the cost to get the “incentives” and that’ll be all, a few cents per dollar collected.
Before everyone should be taxed to “save the environment” the money should be guaranteed to be used only for that purpose and the last organization I would trust to properly administrate that would be the government.
