Re: OPP: Elderly woman ‘groped’ by young man in Mount Forest

Dear Editor,

I am writing in response to the article OPP: Elderly woman ‘groped’ by young man in Mount Forest published on September 9, 2016. In this article a suspect man sexually assaulted an elderly woman who was simply walking down the street. I believe that this act is wrong and the suspect should be punished when he is found. It is unacceptable to treat others with such disrespect, especially the elderly. He should be taken held liable for his own actions and understand the wrongdoing of them. Although the victim was not physically injured at all, this misdemeanour is definitely an issue that should be addressed.
The OPP have been searching for information concerning this assault and are seeking the help of the public to identify the suspect in this crime.I believe as communities and the general public should do everything we can to help prevent more acts like this. It is wrong to invade the personal privacy of others, especially to assault them rudely. Since the young man ran away from the victim after harassing her, I think he should be addressed about apologizing personally.
Others might argue that an issue like this doesn’t need to be addressed in a formal way but I disagree. I believe that an issue like this must be dealt with justly.
