A global problem

Dear Editor:

RE: Per-capita numbers, Sept. 26.

Robert Wright seems to have missed the whole point of my letter to the editor, which was the extremely high growth rates of CO2 by both China and India:

– China, 10.8 million metric tons, 27.2% of global CO2 and growing at 4.7%; and

– India, 2.45 million metric tons, 6.82% of global CO2 and growing at 6.3%.

The suggestion that paying more taxes on carbon in Canada will have an effect globally is ludicrous. Canada is 1.5% global CO2 at 678,000 MT.

By the way, the fourth largest CO2 emitter is Russia at 1.76 MT, another country like Canada where it is cold in winter.

The first four large emitters of CO2 China, U.S., India and Russia –  exceed 50% of the Global CO2 emissions and are not taxing carbon; they are however, having a laugh at Justin in black face, as is the rest of the world.

Globally we have a problem that Canada can’t fix.
