Junior Farmers mark 65 years with reunion

The Junior Farmers’ Association of Ontario’s annual charity golf tournament fundraiser starts a celebration on Aug. 15 of 65 years of leadership and networking for Ontario youth age 15 to 29.

The anniversary weekend celebrations tee off with a noon shotgun start at Hockley Valley Resort, followed by a reunion banquet and dance at the Orangeville Fairgrounds. A spa treatment option is being offered for those who do not wish to golf before the afternoon social time gets underway.

“We’re excited to be golfing at Hockley this year,” said Wayne Stoltz, a member in the 1970s and honorary chairman of the golf tournament. “It’s a great way to be involved in helping raise funds for this organization.”

Local golfers, agriculture and food industry leaders and corporate sponsors are also planning to participate in the annual tournament that raises operating funds to sustain JFAO programs.

JFAO provides opportunities for young people age 15 to 29 of all backgrounds, but especially those in rural Ontario, to take on the challenge of exploring individual talents while being involved in bettering their communities, networking, and having fun. JFAO’s mission is “to build future rural leaders through self-help and community betterment.” More information on the tournament and the accompanying 65th anniversary reunion can be found at www.jfao.on.ca or by calling 519-780-JFAO (5326).
