Jeff Davie Memorial 3-Pitch Tournament raises $15,000 for community

The Jeff Davie Memorial 3-Pitch Tournament held on the August long weekend in Palmerston and Harriston raised approximately $15,000 for the community.

The tournament saw 30 teams play over three days. NHL linesman Scott Cherrey threw the opening pitch and NHL player Nick Spaling attended the opening ceremonies.

Luckily, none of the games had to be rescheduled due to major storms that passed through on Sunday; however, the championship game only lasted six innings before the Chipper Rippers were declared the winner.

The memorial tournament has raised over $100,000 in the last seven years. The money goes to different community causes, such as Sports teams, scholarships, equipment and field maintenance. The money is given back to the community in honour of Jeff Davie, who battled a brain tumour before passing away in 2008.
