The Mixed Bunch from Palmerston took on the Outcasts from Mildmay during a Saturday morning game in Harriston at the annual Palmerston Junior Broomball Tournament. The co-ed tournament, hosted by Al and Connie Walter, provides new players from Atom to Juvenile ages an opportunity to try out the sport. The tournament ran March 8 to 11, with games played in both Palmerston and Harriston.

New exhibit

The Minto Arts Council opened its current exhibit, Abstraction, by Kitchener artist Monte Wright, on March 7. Wright’s art has been shown in various countries including the United States, Italy, England and Argentina. The exhibit continues until March 30 at the Minto Arts Gallery, located on the second floor of the Harriston library. For gallery hours and information visit mintoartscouncil.ca.

Murder victim was reported missing from Harriston location on March 12

HARRISTON - Police have launched a homicide investigation into the death of a Kitchener man who was last seen in Harriston on Tuesday. Wellington OPP responded to report of a missing person at a location on Jessie Street in Harriston on March 12 at around 6:30pm. Police identified the missing individual as Jason John Brown, 43, of Kitchener. On March 13 the OPP was notified by Durham Regional Police that Brown’s body was located on Stevenson Road North in Oshawa. A post-mortem was completed on March 15 and an OPP press release states the death is being treated as a homicide.
