MINTO - Minto council heard arguments both for and against allowing retail cannabis outlets in the municipality at a public meeting here on Jan. 8.

Town appoints councillors to committees

MINTO - Minto council passed a bylaw on Jan. 8 appointing members to various committees. Mayor George Bridge is an ex-officio member on all committees; he chairs the town’s committee of adjustment, and represents the town as a director for Westario Power, the Minto Municipal Service Corporation and LaunchIt Minto.

Council approves new phone system with automated answering feature

MINTO - An automated answering feature will be part of a new telephone system for the town’s municipal administration centre. Council approved the installation of the new system at its Jan. 10 meeting.

Man charged in connection with daylight break-in attempt

HARRISTON - A Harriston man has been charged in connection with an attempted daylight break-in here. On Jan. 16 at about 10:40am Wellington County OPP officers responded to a residence on Jessie Street in Harriston. Police say a resident of the house observed a man trying to break in through a back door. “The complainant yelled at the male, at which time he fled on foot,” police stated in a press release.
