GYMC’s Medieval Festival to return Feb. 20

GUELPH – The Guelph Youth Music Centre (GYMC) will be hosting the Medieval Festival, KnightsFest, on Feb. 20 from 10am to 6pm – a real Family Day affair.

In its sixth year, organizers describe the festival as a family fun event “with lots of activities for everyone to enjoy,” including displays, costumes, games, activities and entertainment; all to the theme of the Medieval and Renaissance eras.

 And it’s free.

“Thanks to the generous support of TD, we’re excited to offer KnightsFest again this year and provide a fun event for the whole family to participate in,” said GYMC executive director Samantha Zimmerman.

The professional troupe, Blackthorn Productions, will be returning to guide visitors through the Medieval and Renaissance eras.

Festival activities will include weapons and armour demonstrations, Medieval and Renaissance dancing, magician, hit the knight, trebuchets, displays, heraldry and photo ops with the KnightsFest King and Queen.

New this year is Middle Eastern dance by the Valizan & Company
