Guelph Police golf tournament made $16,000 for hospice

GUELPH – The Guelph Police Association hosted its 29th Annual Norma Owen Memorial Golf Tournament on Sept. 7 with 186 golfers participating at the Ariss Valley Golf Club.

The event raised $16,000 for Hospice Wellington this year.

“The Norma Owen Memorial Golf Tournament has been a tradition in the community since 1983 and it continues to thrive with the ongoing participation and support of our corporate sponsors, local businesses, past and present Guelph Police Service members and many other individuals,” said Guelph Police Association president Matt Jotham.

“Not including this year’s [event], this tournament has donated in excess of $243,100 since 1983. This tournament has a reputation of being one of the best golf tournaments in the city and often sells out very quickly due to the great success of the tournament.”

This year the association and the golf committee selected Hospice Wellington as the charity of choice.

It has been caring for the people of Guelph and Wellington County since 1980.

The Guelph Police Association thanked major corporate sponsor ScotiaBank – Wyndham Square and all those who contributed to the cause.
