Guelph artist to exhibit in first solo show

MARDEN – Guelph artist Perry McEwen will be holding her first solo art show and sale “‘Tis the season … to be jolly” at the Marden Community Centre on Nov. 16, from 11am to 5pm.

McEwen is a self-taught artist with a passion for colour. Born in Cairo, Egypt, she spent the first part of her life travelling the world.

Living in the Middle East, west and central Africa and Europe gave her an early appreciation of the arts.

The intricacies of hand-carved African masks, the designs and warm colours of oriental carpets and textiles are still a constant source of inspiration.

After a long hiatus, McEwen has recently returned to her home studio in Guelph to continue to paint.

“Her pieces are mostly intricate, colourful and often whimsical,” officials state in a press release.

“They reflect the joy she feels when putting design and colour to paper.”
