Group’s Bowl For Kids Sake earned over $76,500 this year

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph has an­nounced the 33rd annual Bowl For Kids Sake campaign raised $76,500.

The proceeds raised from the even will support over 400 children in the community who are involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph men­toring programs. The event ran March 29 to April 1. More than 550 participants were involved in this year’s event, with 96 teams of four to six people who raised pledges on behalf of BBBSG.

Golf tournament

The organization is now moving from bowling to golf.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph is starting its 2008 fundraising golf tournament. 

Golf Fore Kids Sake runs June 11 at Guelph Lakes Golf and Country Club. Teams and individuals are welcome.  Details include:

– $175 per golfer;

– 18 holes of golf with golf cart;

– shot gun start, scramble format;

– complimentary driving range with golf pro advice;

– lunch and steak dinner;

– team photos, games, prizes, and a silent auction; and

– a raffle with WestJet tickets for two as the prize.

All proceeds fund programs and services to assist the 400 children and youth in the Guelph area in need of friendships and positive men­tor­ing. Over 80 children are currently waiting to be matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister mentor. These children could wait up to three years before being matched with a volun­teer.
