Got talent? Centre Wellington is looking for you

CENTRE WELLINGTON –  Call it Centre Wellington’s Got Talent or Star Search Centre Wellington.

The Fergus Grand Theatre is calling it Just Play and it’s an opportunity for anyone with a desire to be under the spotlight to show what they’ve got.

Just Play is an open-stage, all ages showcase of local talent and you could be the star.

The theatre is looking for aspiring singers, dancers, musicians, magicians, actors, stand-up comedians – anyone who has a performance in them that they would like to share.

Participants will get 15 minutes of stage time, at no cost, with basic technical support, to showcase whatever they’ve got.

Individuals, organizations and even groups of friends are all welcome to apply. No previous performance experience is necessary, and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Content must be suitable for an all-ages audience.

The performance itself, at 2pm on Sept. 25, will be a free event, open to all.

Spaces have already begun to fill for the 2pm showcase, but the theatre can add a morning show and an evening show if there is sufficient demand, organizers say.

Interested persons should contact theatre coordinator Eric Goudie at 519-787-1981, or at egoudie@centrewellington.ca.

In an email, Goudie stated there have been talent shows at the theatre in the past, specifically the Culture Days concerts in 2016, 2017 and 2018, “but this is the first year we’re doing anything as the theatre ourselves.”

He added, “The point is just to get people coming through the doors, excited about being back in the theatre again, and to get the people in the community up and performing on their own stage.”
