Georgina Street reconstruction set to begin in Arthur

WELLINGTON NORTH – Reconstruction of Georgina Street in Arthur is set to get underway Monday.

Township officials advise construction on Georgina between between Frederick Street East and Charles Street East is set to begin July 13. Construction is expected to continue until the end of August.

Georgina Street will be closed to through traffic during construction. The township states local access, including access to driveways, will be interrupted at various times during this period. It is expected that the intersections with Frederick Street East and Charles Street East will remain open; however, temporary closure of the intersections may be required for two to three days during the project.

Sidewalks in Mount Forest

The township will be installing sidewalk on the south side of King Street East, Mount Forest between 440 King Street East and London Road.

Construction is set to begin the week of July 22, and is expected to last approximately three weeks. Two-way traffic may be reduced to one lane within the limits of construction and local access to driveways will be interrupted at various times during the construction period, township officials note.

Public meeting online

The Township of Wellington North is planning a public meeting to consider a proposed rezoning for a townhouse project in Mount Forest

The meeting’s focus will be a proposed amendment to the township’s Comprehensive Zoning By-law for a property at 350 Cork Street. An amendment to rezone the 0.8-acre property from Residential (R2) to Residential (R3) to facilitate increased density and the construction of a six-unit row townhouse will be considered. “Additional relief may be considered at this meeting,” township officials state.
