Fusion Pee Wee “˜AA”™ win Silver Stick

The Centre Wellington Fusion Pee Wee ‘AA’ team are regional Silver Stick champions.

Team officials say the squad  knew they would have to play hard against a tough field.

In their first round robin game the players came out strong and defeated Ancaster 3-0.

Next up was Burlington and the boys put it all together to beat a strong Eagles team 3-0.

Next up was first-ranked London. The boys were outplayed and ended up on the losing end of an 8-1 score.

The two wins were enough to put the Fusion into the semi-final where they met a determined Waterloo squad. CW was able to put it all back together winning 2-1.

Then it was off to the finals where the Fusion met the London Knights once more. The team knew what it had to do and adjusted its game accordingly. Centre Wellington played strong but found itself down 2-0.

The boys fought hard and stepped up their speed to tie it up 2-2 at the end of regulation.

At the end of the first overtime the game was still tied. The tournament format was set up so that in each subsequent overtime each team played down a player. There were amazing chances for both sides.

Finally in quadruple overtime (playing 2 on 2) the Fusion found the back of the net to win 3-2.

The team is now qualified to go to the International Silver Stick Tournament in the U.S. in January.
