Former Elora Mohawks Jr. B player wins National Lacrosse League title

ELORA – The Elora Mohawks Jr. B lacrosse team has sent congratulations to former team member Dane Dobbie, who led the Calgary Roughnecks to the National Lacrosse League (NLL) championship.

The Roughnecks won the 2019 NLL title with a 14-13 overtime win on May 25 against the Buffalo Bandits in Calgary.

The Roughnecks were leading 1-0 in the best-of-three series after beating the Bandits 10-7 in Buffalo on May 18.

Dobbie had four goals and three assists in the final game and was named the series MVP.

He had his best point total ever in 2019, with 47 goals and 68 assists, and led the team in this year’s playoffs with 12 goals and 14 assists.

Dobbie played two years for the Jr. B Mohawks in Elora before heading west in 2005 to play with the Jr. A Burnaby Lakers in British Columbia.

He was selected in the first round (4th overall) in the 2007 entry draft and has played exclusively for Calgary.
