Firefighters contain damage in Saturday night fires

PUSLINCH – Firefighters here were able to keep damage to a minimum in the course of fighting two Saturday night fires in the township.

Puslinch Fire Chief Luis Gomes said the first call on April 27 came in around 9:20pm for an incident on Sideroad 12 North between Concession 4 and Forestell Road.

Firefighters responded to a barbecue fire that caused about $5,000 damage to a detached garage.

One person was sent to hospital with smoke inhalation and later released.

Next up was a call at 12:05am on Forestell Road between Wellington Road 32 and Sideroad 10.

Gomes stated there was no damage loss as a result of a chimney fire, which was contained to the woodstove and chimney.

He noted about 17 firefighters responded to each call. Firefighters also responded to a medical call in between the two fires.
