Fifth Elora Handmade Market expands into vintage

ABOYNE – The fifth annual Elora Handmade Market returns on Oct. 27, this year having expanded to include 10 vintage vendors.

“It has always been the Elora Handmade Market but now it’s the Elora Handmade and Vintage Market,” explained Mandy Morrison, event organizer and owner of reFind Salvage.

The vendors will offer vintage upcycle clothing, jewelry, home decor and more.

As in past years, the event will be held at the Wellington County Museum and Archives in the heritage barn, Aboyne Hall and the Nicholas Keith Room. Outdoor food vendors will also be available as well as live music.

Proceeds from admissions ($2), a raffle and bake sale will go to CW Eats breakfast and nutrition program. Last year the event raised $5,600 – the largest donation to date from the market.

The program is run by chef and teacher Nicole DeBeyer from Centre Wellington District High School. Once a week, the program provides breakfast for all  students at the school.

Morrison hopes to match or surpass last year’s donation.

Her main reason for organizing the annual event is to “support local, small businesses, and especially moms … and similar people like us,” she said.

The event is on Oct. 27 from 10am to 3pm. More details about the Elora Handmade and Vintage Market can be found on Instagram and Facebook @elorahandmademarket.
