Fergus Lions support youth literacy

Big cheque – Last week the Wellington County Learning Centre board of directors received a $4,000 donation from the Fergus Lions Club. The learning centre will use the donation to run literacy programs in Fergus. The funds will support Reading Rocks, a program for children 7 to 12 years old who are struggling with reading; Let’s Get Real: Essential Skills For YOUth which helps young adults match their skills to employment and further education; and the SOAR program, which is a transition program for youth with a learning disability who are entering Grades 7, 8 and 9.

“It is an honour to receive this money from the Fergus Lions which will bring these valuable programs to Fergus. Most importantly, with these funds, the Learning Centre can offer these programs free to families,” learning centre representatives stated. Call 519-848-3462 if interested in any of the programs.
