Female suspects sought in recent thefts from vehicles

HILLSBURGH – Several residents reported thefts from vehicles here recently.

Residents say that on Oct. 17, between 4:30 and 5am, two females were observed on security camera footage (image above shows one suspect) stealing property from unlocked vehicles on Douglas Crescent and Spruce Street in Hillsburgh.

“Numerous residents awoke to find they had items stolen, including cash, purses, personal property,” one resident told the Advertiser. “The two suspects appear to be female, 13 to 16 years old, and were on foot.”

Asked about the incidents, Wellington OPP spokesperson Josh Cunningham acknowledged on Oct. 20 that police “are aware of vehicle entries in Erin on Oct. 17.” He added, “Investigators are still collecting information.”

However, over the next two weeks police did not provide any further details.

Anyone with information should contact Wellington OPP.
