Farm dinner event highlights local food

ERIN – A local farm invites the public to close the distance from farm to fork with an al fresco dining event held right on the farm.

On Oct. 4, Fourth Line Cattle Co. collaborates with neighbouring farms and a local chef to create an all-local harvest meal for guests to enjoy.

A news release from Wellington County Taste Real Coordinator Christina Mann states hosts Tamaran and Matt Mousseau raise Texas longhorns and Hereford cattle at their Hillsburgh farm.

“They are passionate about their product, farming and educating consumers,” Mann stated. “Selling at their on-farm store and three local farmers’ markets is a great way to engage with the public, but they were eager to do something more.”

“There seems to be a real ‘hunger’ for authentic food experiences,” says Tamaran Mousseau. “We are thrilled to be creating this event with a great group of local farmers and food entrepreneurs that are equally passionate about their products.”

The meal features Calehill Farm chicken, vegetables from Vandenbroek Family Farm alongside beef from the host farm. Craft beer from Wellington Brewery will be offered with the meal as well as cider from Heartwood Farm and Cidery.
