Erin council, committees paid over $180,000 last year

ERIN – Last year, $188,031 in taxpayer dollars were paid out to council, committee and board members here.

The town’s remuneration statement, required by the Municipal Act and  provided to council last month, includes the amount paid to council members and board members in a year.

The top earner in 2022 was Allan Alls, who earned a total of $44,346 during his last year as mayor.

Councillors earned a base salary of $20,902, pre-expenses. The totals with benefits, conferences and milage factored in are:

  • John Brennan, $26,623;
  • Jamie Cheyne, $32,312;
  • Michael Robins, $31,905; and
  • Rob Smith, $33,115.

Brennan also earned $1,064 for his role on the Credit Valley Conservation board. 

Five members of the adjustment committee, livestock evaluators and fence viewers earned a collective $5,140 in their roles.
