End of season skate-out

Something you don’t see very often is skating on curling ice. At the end of the season, after curling is finished for the season and all equipment is turned off, Fergus Curling Club members are allowed to “skate out the ice”. A committee in the club is raising funds for new rocks. “This should make the rocks faster, with better striking surface and make for more lively rocks,” according to chief ice maker Andy Maine. The club is looking forward to another banner year. In the foreground are Jim Carter and Marilyn Curry.  Photo by Bill Longshaw
