Elora Singers celebrates 40th year

ELORA – The Elora Singers is celebrating its 40th year. After celebrating the Elora Festival’s 40th Anniversary, the Elora Singers will continue with performances throughout the winter season.  

To the Hands 

The Singers’ 40th year starts with a concert befitting the fall season, featuring Caroline Shaw’s moving work, To the Hands on Nov. 17 at 3:30pm at St. John’s Church in Elora. 

Singers Messiah 

Handel’s moving masterpiece will be performed in a unique way, with Elora Singers as soloists on Dec. 8 at 7:30pm at St. Joseph’s Church in Fergus. 

Festival of Carols 

“Start the holiday season in beautiful, candlelit St. John’s Church with the perfect blend of favourite traditional songs and new,” officials say. 

The Festival of Carols will take place on Dec. 17 and 18 at 5 and 7:30pm at St. John’s Church in Elora.

Soup and Song: Early Bach Cantatas 

Soup and Song: Early Bach Cantatas is an engaging afternoon with two Bach cantatas, illuminated by conductor, Mark Vuorinen. 

The Cantatas include Bach’s Nach dir Herr verlanget mich and Weinen klagen sorgen zagen. 

Attendees are invited to come early for a lunch.   

The show will take place on Feb. 8 at 2pm at St. John’s Church in Elora.

The Elora Singers and Elmer Isler Singers: Double Choir 

The voices of two choirs, each celebrating their 40th year, will be joined as one. 

The concert features Ockeghem’s 36-voice motet, Mendelssohn, Brahms and more on April 25 at 7:30pm at the Basilica of our Lady Immaculate in  Guelph.
